A while back we had the chance to collaborate on a necklace with the renowned team behind AIDA Impact, the Helsinki-born jewelry brand that seeks to create sustainable and measurable social impact. Designed by our very own Karim Awad, the lucky clover hopes to represent different things to each person wearing it, and thus, making the bond between the necklace and its wearer very personal. Each necklace in the collaborative series between Hypend and AIDA is handmade in Finland, using only the finest recycled natural materials and high-quality craftmanship.

For Hypend, the lucky clover signifies the feeling of warmth and belonging in a community. Ever since we founded Hypend (the Hypend Facebook Group) in 2006, we have been incredibly lucky with being able to bring together a wide community of people from all walks of life - regardless of social status, ethnic background, or religious background. As AIDA Impact sees it, “the collaboration acts as a reminder to acknowledge the luck we may often take for granted. Wearing it helps us reflect on the layers of privilege that shape our individual journeys.” 

While the global streetwear community today is open and accessible to anyone who takes an interest in it, it naturally used to be heavily male dominated as streetwear has its roots in mens fashion, skateboarding, and hip-hop cultures. On the hand, AIDA Impact, the jewelry brand founded, run, and owned by women, primarily employs immigrant and refugee women, providing them a gateway to working life, and a network in a new country. Therefore, by having the opportunity to collaborate with the amazing team behind AIDA Impact, we are able to build bridges between our communities - making us all better and stronger in the process.

This necklace acts as a reminder to acknowledge the luck we may often take for granted. Wearing it helps us reflect on the layers of privilege that shape our individual journeys.

Where to Shop the AIDA Impact x Hypend Lucky Clover Necklace

Currently, the AIDA x Hypend Clover Necklace is available in the options: a larger 17mm pendant made from solid recycled 14K gold, solid recycled sterling silver, or recycled silver with the 14K gold plating, as well as you can opt to purchase the necklace with a smaller 10mm mini pendant made from recycled 14K gold or recycled sterling silver. Moreover, you can choose either a 45mm or 50mm chain with your preferred pendant from the AIDA web shop.
