Presenting: Filippa K Spring/Summer 2023

Filippa K’s new collection channels the aesthetic and sensuality of the 90s-era.

Founded in 1993, the Swedish fashion house Filippa K has been changing the landscape of Scandinavian fashion for decades. Recently, we had the privilege of taking over their flagship store located in the heart of Helsinki, to celebrate the release of their SS23 collection. We’ll let the photos do the talking for the collection, which ranges from pinstriped tuxedos to oversized quilted jackets. Browse the gallery below to see our staff picks!

“The starting point of the collection was to go back to Filippa K’s 90s beginnings, exploring the energy and emotions of those early days. By revisiting those garments, I rediscovered the timeless power they have to them. The feeling of comfort and the freedom of movement have always been at the core of the brand; it’s important to me to carry forward this heritage. I wanted the collection to feel easy to wear – light, fresh, uncomplicated and effortless.”

– Liisa Kessler,
Filippa K Creative Director

Some exciting times lie ahead for the fashion house, as the new Creative Director Liisa Kessler is preparing to set the tone for the brand. Kessler, a German/Finn, began her journey in fashion when she started her internship with Mary Katrantzou. Three years later she started working with Clare Waight Keller at Chloé. After that she briefly worked at Glenn Marten’s Y/Project as well as Lanvin. She then joined forces with Anthony Vaccarello at Saint Laurent, and worked as a senior designer on the menswear shows. All of this led her to become the first ever successor of Filippa K founder Filippa Knutsson. Liisa was appointed in January 2022 and SS23 is her first collection for the house.

The collection explores the deep archives of Filippa K. With re-imagined staple pieces from the brands early beginnings. We loved the quilted jacket in both colour-ways, black and hazel; a double sided jacket to lift any outfit of your choice. The double-breasted pinstripe suit is a perfect example of the deep dive into the aesthetic of the 90’s. The combination of tailoring and an effortless feel is highlighted in these pieces. The sharp shoulders and the relaxed trousers are a combo we expect to see a lot in the upcoming years. Everyone's favourite was the Shiny Sage Triacetate set. A relaxed cuban collared shirt matched with a pair of beautifully drapey trackpants, is the go to outfit for both a night out or a dinner at home.

The two-story Filippa K flagship store located in Helsinki’s Kämp Galleria (built in the late 1800s) is a very special place to visit. It could be mistaken for a gallery at first glance, but as you take a deeper look you will notice it is actually a retail space with custom art pieces along with carefully curated vintage furniture.

The store space is clearly built on values close to the brand. From recycled aluminium to reclaimed wood, sustainable materials have been beautifully utilised to create a Filippa K environment like never before. The design of the space remains minimalistic, leaving room for the garments as well as the beautiful furniture to shine.

The Helsinki flagship offers an immersive all senses experience for the visitor. Through the co-existing harmony between the timeless pieces and interior, the customer steps into a space of long-lasting style and quality characteristic for Filippa K.

The Helsinki flagship store is the first one with the new Filippa K concept, introduced earlier this year.

Visit the space at Mikonkatu 1, 00100, Helsinki.

The Sculptural Garden Chair

This chair can be found from the upper level womenswear section. It was crafted by an anonymous French sculptor during the 1970s known for his unique objects. Designed to look like a stone, this unique piece has sat outdoors for decades, which has developed a special natural patina. A “must-sit” situation if you visit the store!

The Pre collection is available in stores now, followed by the Main SS23 collection from February 2023.
