King of the Streets by JD Sports
This article is sponsored by JD Sports: the established sports, fashion and outdoor retailer. They are bringing the heat this Christmas season with their “King of the Streets” campaign, which features familiar faces from sports, music and TV – filmed on the streets of Manchester, close to where JD Sports was founded 40 years ago.
Peter Cowgill, Execution Chairman of JD Sports Fashion plc, said:
“JD Sports has been part of the British high street since it was founded 40 years ago. As a business we have always embraced the communities that shop with us and the culture that surrounds us, and there’s no better place to celebrate that than Christmas. We’re proud to have the hottest talent from music, sport and culture as we see our high streets come alive ahead of the festive season.”
JD Sports has been cemented onto the shopping streets of the UK, where their retail locations have become a place where youngsters buy their best fits and most of all share their passion and love for streetwear. Their latest campaign is the “who-is-who” of British icons of youth culture – every person selected for the roles is the embodiment of JD’s bold and pioneering spirit.
Below are some exclusives from Nike, Puma & New Balance:
The ad features music from Toddla T & Shayboa along a young main character, who is taking a walk on a fictional high street on a cold and quiet winters night. At first glance the high street appears normal, until upon closer inspection it is evident that each store has been completely renovated with a touch of JD Christmas magic.
Maya Jaman and Michael Dapaah can be seen through a window display seemingly operating a weird dog groomer, where a crowd of famous loyal customers are waiting for their dogs to look their best on Christmas day. The local milkshake bar features Littie Simz meeting Ms Banks over some cake and coffee. Meanwhile, Manchesters very own Aitch and Shaybo (known for her Queen of the South album) are serving meat pies at the nearby restaurant. Meanwhile, British rap artists Central Cee and Russ Millions are hunting for Christmas pies at a grocery store.
Other well known characters in the ad are English football superstars Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund), Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool FC), Ebe Eze (Crystal Palace), Kalvin Phillips (Leeds United), Leah Williamson (Arsenal) and Jadon Sancho (Manchester United). The JD-streets showcase guest appearances from YouTube sensation KSI and Tobi Brown (AKA TBJZL), rap-duo Young T & Bugsey, Arrdee, Love Island star Joanna Chimonides, host Joelah Noble, rap artist Jay 1 and Stormzy’s bike collective Bike Stormz.
