Originals by Hypend Blockparty in Punavuori
During the last year, we joined forces with Saucony Originals to launch a community-driven series called Originals by Hypend - featuring some of the people that make Helsinki move. With each talent, we photographed them in their personal space of creativity and printed five superior-quality 70x100cm posters on paper canvases weighing over 300g each. As a homage to the nostalgic vibes of 90s skateboard magazines, we also published a brief Q&A interview with each talent in the Hypend Magazine on our website.
As you might have seen on our IG feed or in the Hypend Magazine, some of the talents included in the campaign were Punavuori’s own street food chef Tanako ‘Boom,’ the Helsinki-based DJ and radio host Lina Schiffer, the founder of Ottos’ Barbershop joint - Otto Kaipio - from Punavuori, and Man Yau - the very talented ceramic artist whose work has been showcased in the most prominent galleries locally and internationally.
Last but certainly not least, also included in the campaign was Kaarle Hurtig, who is a man with many hats, but lately, he has been best known around the city for his Youtube series called Keskusteluohjelma.
Outside of the Originals by Hypend campaign, we also did an additional photoshoot with the Helsinki-based stylist Antti Nguyen.
To celebrate the campaign, we invited some members of the Hypend community to party with us at our Showroom in Punavuori, Helsinki. The main idea behind the event was to showcase the five posters featuring the five remarkable talents who fuel the vibrant pulse of Helsinki and to honor the release of Saucony Originals’ new Program Omni 9 Silver in two colorways: Red & Blue.
